     Dear Member,

    FAQ’S FOR PERIOD ENDING 31ST JANUARY, 2022

Attached herewith below is a summary of the key issues received and handled for the subject period.

FAQ’s from Members for the Period Ending 31st January, 2022

    No. QUESTION ANSWER
1 How long does it take for the   E-Visa to process and issue? The E-Visa usually takes about 48 hours to issue but has also been known to issue within a few hours and sometimes to delay to even 6 days.

Kindly advise your clients to apply as early as possible given that the Visa will be valid for travel for 90 days after it is issued.  Where there is an undue delay kindly contact the Secretariat in good time for assistance.

2 Can a Client come to Kenya before the arrival date they had indicated in their E-Visa application? One can travel to Kenya immediately the E-Visa is issued irrespective of what arrival date is stated in the Visa.
3 What is an ePass? The ePass is issued to people who do not require Visa (e.g. children under 16).   It is not a mandatory requirement but can be useful for those that need it e.g. to board a flight.
4 Does the 72 Hrs for the PCR Negative certificate as indicated in the KCAA Notice refer to the time of arrival in Kenya or before departure in the source country? The 72 Hours is the time within which the Traveller must board their flight to depart for Kenya.  The time taken to travel to Kenya on a direct or connecting flight is not counted.
5 If a client has recently recovered from COVID-19, can they travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (e.g. COVID Pass) or a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that they have recently recovered and therefore cleared to travel?

At the moment, there is no provision for anyone to come to Kenya without presenting a PCR negative certificate. Those who may be still testing Covid-19 positive (for whatever reason) will most definitely not be able to come to Kenya.

There is also no provision for anyone to travel to Kenya with an “exemption” from the PCR certificate unless authorised by the DG for Health Services in advance and in writing.

Although there are some countries issuing “Covid Passes” for those recently recovered from an infection, this approach has unfortunately not been adopted in Kenya as yet.

    No. QUESTION ANSWER
6 Which Travellers are exempted from presenting a Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate? 1.    Persons under 18 Years of age.

    2.    One who has recently recovered from a COVID-19 infection may travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e. a COVID-19 positive viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating the Traveller has recently recovered from a Covid-19 infection and are cleared to travel.

7 What happens to a client who has recently recovered from Covid-19 and wishes to travel out of Kenya but is still testing positive? Outbound travel is governed by the rules imposed by the destination country and/or Airline.  If these will accept a Doctor’s letter confirming the Traveller has recovered and therefore cleared to travel they will be allowed leave.
8 Must the pre-departure Rapid Antigen test be carried only at the MOH Port Health facility at the Airport or can one use any of the approved Laboratories? The pre-departure Rapid Antigen test cannot be conducted at any other facility other than Port Health at the Airport.

10 What happens to clients unable to upload the Daily Health Report after arrival? A few clients have reported inability to send the daily reports. In the event that a Client is unable to send the reports e.g. due to poor network, etc. we are not at the moment aware of any penalties for being unable to send such data.
11 Any update on the KWS Park Fees from 1st July, 2022? There has not been any formal communication about the Park Fee levels from 1st July, 2022 but we are expecting the same in the course of the next few weeks.
