Responsible Tourism

All tourism the potential for the environmental, social, and economic impact on a destination, and tourism practitioners have a duty to be responsible in all their dealings on these three levels.

Tour Operators can contribute effectively to Sustainable Tourism by ensuring that they meet the needs of present tourists and host regions while protecting and enhancing opportunities for future generations to meet their own needs.

The ultimate aim will be to ensure that development brings about a positive experience for local people, tourism operators, and the tourists themselves.

KATO Members support the basic tenets of Sustainable Tourism and will endeavor to:

To protect the environment – its flora, fauna, and landscapes
To respect local cultures – traditions, religions and built heritage
To benefit local communities – both economically and socially
To conserve natural resources – from office to destination
To minimize pollution – through the noise, waste disposal, and congestion
