The Kenya Association of Tour Operators (KATO) successfully held its 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) from Thursday 23rd to Saturday 25th October 2025 at the Sarova Shaba Game Lodge, located within the scenic Shaba National Reserve in Isiolo County.
The year’s AGM was themed “Enhancing Tour Operations Through Travel Tech”, reflecting KATO’s commitment to fostering innovation and technology adoption within the tourism sector. As the industry continues to evolve, the focus on travel technology underscores the association’s drive to empower members to deliver efficient, competitive, and sustainable tour operations.

The three-day event featured a blend of professional and networking activities, including:

- Engaging member deliberations during the official AGM session

- Strengthening Kenya–Estonia collaboration on tourism development and digital transformation
- Partnering with Kiambu County to promote it as a leading tea and coffee farm tourism destination
- Welcoming the KATO Chief Executive to the TRA Board following his nomination by the Kenya Tourism Federation (KTF)
- Exploratory talks between KATO and Equity Bank to identify potential areas of collaboration
- Showcasing Kenya’s tourism potential at major international events such as the Africa Travel Indaba in South Africa and the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai
- Hosting member engagement forums to explore business opportunities and cooperation with RwandAir
